Island of Vis

Island of Vis

Vis or Lissa in Italian is a prominent Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea. It rests 45 km from the mainland. Surface of the island is 90.3 km2 and the total coast length is 77 km.

The island runs a commercial line from Split two to four times a day in the summer and it has a connection with Ancona, Italy.

Around the island there are numerous smaller islands, islets and rocks.

Climate on the island is a tipical Mediterranean climate. With the fact that the island is quite far from other islands and the continental mainland, Vis is exposed to stronger winds than the adjacent islands in the Adriatic.
